Paris Nice 2021 Stage 1 REACTION and Recap | Sam Bennett Dominates!

Sam Bennett Becomes the first Irishman since Sean Kelly to pull on the Yellow jersey in Paris Nice.

Nancy D : IMO, Bennett was not in the best position at the beginning of the sprint and yet he still blew the rest of the field away which shows just how strong he will be again this year in the bunch sprints. Ackerman did go early, but perhaps that was by design because he knew he cannot match Bennett head to head. After he saw he was being beaten, he appeared to sit up.

I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this, but it sure seems that Richie Porte wrecks more than almost any top rider I have watched over the years. Is it because he lacks bike handling skills or because he allows himself to fall into the pack where wrecks are more likely to happen? It cannot be all just "bad luck." Anyway, Porte is out.

Last, I am a big fan of cross winds and am hoping to see them tomorrow.

Great analysis today!
Comments Enabled : Nice analysis of today and examination of eventualities for tomorrow. Based on Bennett's form here's a distant prediction: I think Bennett can win San Remo.
Vincent Van Schependom : Wow, going strong with the French pronunciations! Chapeau, sir ;)
Tony Baihao : I'm not blaming you but why did you not mention Démare for tomorrow ? He can resist crosswinds and since today's finish was a little bit climbing at the end, Démare was not advantaged. With a flat stage tomorrow, he does have his chances.
But maybe it is a sign you did not talk about him. If he wins tomorrow, would you be surprised ?
JCKSN : I like Paris-Nice alot more than Tirreno but I believe this year Tirreno will be a lot more exciting with Pogacar, Bernal, Thomas, Alaphillipe, Landa, and others. I don't think anyone can stop Primoz in Paris-Nice.
